Most people have experienced a feeling of anxiety at some point in their life - before an exam, date or interview - all totally normal. However, more constant feelings of anxiety and an inability to control anxious thoughts could mean a more serious underlying mental health condition. Anxiety is one of the most commonly reported mental health conditions in the world. Anxiety is also an underlying symptom in many other conditions such as panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Personal boundaries are what separate us from giving too much of ourselves to things, people, and situations that do not serve our growth and progress. While it may appear ideal to be able to do everything and anything without limits, we cannot and should not exhaust ourselves of our personal needs. We are responsible for what we allow. Whether in relationships (familial or romantic), with friends, at work, or anywhere where we are interacting with others, practicing boundaries helps us to be in tune with ourselves and our values.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a hormone-based mood disorder that impacts women and individuals assigned as female at birth (AFAB). The symptoms arise during the premenstrual or luteal phase of the menstrual cycle and lasting until the menstrual flow begins. It is estimated 5-10% of women, and AFAB individuals of reproductive age have PMDD.
Since this is a global outbreak that’s quite beyond our control, self-isolation is doing more harm than good to many of us - mentally speaking. Yes, we’re all keeping safe from COVID-19 itself, but as we do so, we’re throwing ourselves into a cabin fever-like state.
